So after the second attempt I managed to get hold of a DS9 (this time with all the cards included) an now I’m itching to play this in games or even an OP! Now the biggest issue with DS9 in the current official format is it costs 44 points so you only get a limit of 8 points the spend on upgrades and captains/admirals (instead of the 50 point limit). My first though is to pull out the Reinforcement Sideboard but I recently won a Sakharov shuttle (in the Peak Performance OP) so it got me thinking how can these be used together.
So here is how the built works. In turn 1 dock the shuttle with DS9. It gets an APT so can’t take an action this turn. Discard Quark to deploy the new Thunderchild Quantum Torpedoes (without the need for a slot – Quark can deploy these as Sakonna has reduced their cost) which also leaves an empty crew slow. Next turn DS9’s Action will be to deploy the upgrades from the Sakharov. Move Tom Paris and Will Riker over to DS9 (and Sakonna onto the Shuttle) then move Systems Upgrade (into a weapon slot), Multi Adaptive Shields (into the Tech slot) and Tactical Station (into a Weapon Slot). Swap Captain Pike for Ben Sisko on the Shuttle.
Now when DS9 is attacked it can disable 2 shield tokens and roll 2 defence dice + 1 for Tom Paris +1 for Riker +1 for Multi adaptive Shields plus also get +1 defence from Ben Siskos ability (if two enemy ships have young their fire arc) for a total of 6 dice and a BS conversion from Riker. For added damage you also have Photon torpedoes with Kira’s Action on the Ratosha to give you a Target Lock (and a Tactical Console to discard). When you fire the torpedo get one time token due to Rapid Reloaders. You can then repeat this process every turn.
Kira’s own ship the Rotasha if not giving out Target Locks can instead use its action to get +3 Attack from the Bajoran Malitia, +2 from discarding Malitia +1 for the Assault Vessel Upgrade and two free battle stations (one from the Rotasha and one from Malitia) for an impressive 8 Dice attack!
